About ME
Hello there and welcome aboard! My name is Evan and I love aviation and I have a future dream to be a commercial airline pilot for Delta Air Lines! My interest for aviation began when I was young, when I would travel to visit my family. I was fortunate enough to fly to places and along those journeys it always fascinated me how planes fly. As I stepped onto the aircraft and glanced at the cockpit, I wondered, "what do all those buttons and switches do?" Once we took off I wondered, how did we do that, how does a plane fly? It was like pure magic! As I looked out the window at 34,000ft, I thought to myself “maybe I should be a pilot!” It really occurred to me when I took my first trip out of the country to Jamaica. As I boarded the plane, I said to the captain that I wanted to be a pilot. The captain took an interest in me. He took me to the cockpit, and I talked with the first officer and looked around. It was an amazing experience! After that, I knew for sure that I wanted to be a pilot!
In 2015 I discovered a flight school at DeKalb–Peachtree Airport (KPDK) that specializes in flight training for teens/young adults. I stated taking ground and flight lesson at Centennial Aviation Academy. I worked on my ground and flight hours over the course of a year and a half. Just recently, on February 5, I had my first solo flight were I flew the plane by myself as pilot in command. I have learned so much through this flight school and it has helped me work towards my future goal and dream to be a Commercial Airline Pilot.
I got accepted into the Honors Mentorship Program made possible by Forsyth County Schools. This program offers me the unique ability to mentor with someone in a career field that I am interested in. I want to be a Commercial Airline Pilot and there is no better mentor than my Flight Instructor, Captain Rohan! He started his own flight school, Centennial Aviation Academy at DeKalb–Peachtree Airport (KPDK) when he was 18 which has now grown into his own company where he instruction 60+ students and has a fleet of Piper aircrafts. During my time interning at Centennial Aviation Academy, I get to experience the broad world of aviation as well as how my flight instruction runs his company and maintains a fleet of aircrafts. So far I have experienced many fun things while interning with Rohan. Some of the things I have done are teach new students the basics and fundamentals of flying, maintaining and managing Piper aircrafts, prepare for FAA exams and check-rides, fly solo cross-country flights and much more!
As I continue mentoring at Centennial Aviation Academy throughout this school year, my ultimate goal is to obtain my Private Pilots licenses! By interning here I will be able to complete all necessary requirements such as preparing for FAA exams and check-rides, and flying solo cross-country flights which will help me reach my goal. Come and follow me along my journey to become a Private Pilot! I have a long journey ahead of me, but I am very excited to take on the challenge!
